Project Karindundu Primary School Karatina

Founded in 1946, the school in the village of Karindundu, part of the small town of Karatina, has 14 classrooms for 600 children. Many of our sponsored children attend this school. The school was in such a dilapidated state that the health of the children attending it was at risk. Since education is the only way out of the cycle of poverty for children in Kenya, teaching continued at the school despite the need for renovation and the poor, unhealthy conditions. Since 2011, we have therefore carried out numerous renovations. Currently, funds are still needed for 5 classrooms and the assembly hall (auditorium).

Our work, and therefore your donations in Karindundu, is highly sustainable. By maintaining the students' health and providing them with access to education, we are helping them to help themselves. Only with an education can people find good jobs and support themselves.

The innovative idea of providing direct aid, without intermediaries, arose from the personal contacts of the chairwoman of Kenya Aids Orphans Aid Association. This ensures that the aid reaches those in need directly. Few large charitable organizations are able to provide such targeted and individualized assistance. Unfortunately, government development aid funds often disappear into local corruption. Thanks to our direct contacts, we can guarantee that the funds are used exclusively for school renovations.

This direct, personal, and individualized support is what makes Kenya Aids Orphans Aid e.V. so special. Having an idea and implementing it with the energy and dedication shown by Kenya Aids Orphans Aid e.V., and especially its chairwoman, Barbara Weiss, is rare. We all have many ideas for helping, but putting them into practice requires a great deal of willpower and perseverance. Of course, local knowledge and personal contacts are also essential factors in the association's ability to act.
